I am married and a mother of four who has lived in many countries worldwide. I am Brazilian American, but I was born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, before moving to the USA as an exchange student. I attended LDSBC in Salt Lake City, Utah, majoring in business administration. After years of working in the business setting and at home, I decided to pursue my dream of helping children to become lifelong learners.

I had many different teaching opportunities when I was in my teens and twenties. Before I left for the USA, I taught English and Portuguese as a second language in Brazil. It was an opportunity to experience firsthand how to teach. Then while I was in college in the USA, I worked as a preschool teacher. I fell in love with the work, and I knew I should become a teacher in my heart. While living overseas, I always searched for preschool or elementary school teaching opportunities. I had a chance to teach preschool and sub at the International School in Yangon, Myanmar. I was always finding ways to volunteer at my children’s school, either through PTA or in the classroom.

When I moved back to the USA, I decided it was time to change my career. I finally decided to go back to school. The opportunity showed up in 2010, and I took it. I was living in New York City and knew it was time to fight for my passion. I enrolled at Grand Canyon University and started working on my bachelor’s in elementary education, emphasizing English.

In 2014 I had an opportunity to become a teacher’s assistant at Stamford International School in Singapore and experience firsthand elementary school-age children. It was a fantastic experience, which gave me ideas and an understanding of how I want to run my classroom. Technology plays a massive part in a 21st-century classroom, and my experience in Singapore showed me what technology could do in a classroom setting.

In 2018, I did my student teaching at a DoDEA school in Stuttgart, Germany. My emphasis was on technology and literacy in math and science. I also focus on using technology to enhance particular education students’ learning.

In 2018, I moved to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, where I was invited by the US embassy in Tashkent to help support the English language program with the Ministry of Education of Uzbekistan. Since then, I have trained teachers and assisted the Ministry of Education in Uzbekistan with their new language program, “English Nation.”

In 2019, I started working at the École Française de Tachkent as a primary English teacher. It was an excellent opportunity to introduce technology in language acquisition. I used different tools to motivate students, which prepared the students to transition to online learning during Covid. Having students introduced to Technology before Covid hit helped us prepare for distance learning.

Upon moving to Abu Dhabi, I  decided to pursue a graduate program in Learning Technologies in Schools through George Mason University in Virginia, which gave me a broad understanding of the impact of technology in education.  In 2020, I became a substitute teacher at the American Community School. A few months later, I was offered to teach kindergarten, one of my favorite experiences as a teacher. In 2022, I had the privilege of supporting a special-needs student in 3rd grade, which gave me a better understanding of how to support children with special needs in the classroom.

I am currently working as a 4th-grade teacher at American Community School, where I feel at home; I have taught 4th grade in Germany, which was one of the most exciting experiences of my life. This time, I feel like I never left this grade. The academic growth, the excitement of being in school, the challenges of growing up, and so much more are just fulling as a teacher.

I have a bachelor of elementary education with a minor in English and am also a certified elementary teacher through Arizona in the USA. I also have an MEd Learning Technologies in Schools Concentration.

I speak five languages and have learned nine through the years. Language is my second passion. I also love to cook, dance, read, and sing. My primary love is my family.

My main goal is to assist my students in becoming inquirers, knowledgeable thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced, and reflective.

“I declare, after all, there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of anything than of a book! — When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I do not have an excellent library.”
